Yoga & Hiking

On the trail to Blue Lake, Crazy Mountains

Kicked off hiking season in high gear this past weekend, and I’m feeling a little badass about it. Hiking is hard. Especially in the mountains. But it’s rewards are rich, not the least of which is a huge feeling of accomplishment. Our hike included 9 miles round trip in the remote Crazy Mountains, an altitude gain of over 2,000 feet, and navigating some serious snow fields and tons of rocks. I enjoy not only the physical challenge, but also the psychological one – having those moments of “I can’t do this” and then proving myself wrong. And since I’m not a big cardio hound, I love the feeling of strength badass hiking gives my yoga practice, and the fleet feet that yoga lends my hiking. It’s a win-win.

On our 2014 Wildflowers & Wellness Yoga & Hiking retreat
We’ve got three Yoga and Hiking retreats this season, and we still have space on them. We just had a cancellation for the July 23-26 Advanced Hiking and Yoga, and have a few spots left on the August 6-9 Wildflowers & Wellness and our annual Labor Day weekend trip. All our Yoga & Hiking retreats have special LUXE touches (après hike foot soak, anyone?) and include Beehive Basin (also pictured above), ranked as one of Austin-Lehman Adventure’s top 10 hikes in the world. Would love to have you join us and show you how hiking can amp up your yoga. Namaste.
