Cowgirls vs. Cancer

Yoga and horses retreat for cancer kickin’ cowgirls in Clyde Park, MT

Let's kick breast cancer’s @ss!

Breast cancer has touched too many of our mothers, sisters, and friends. That's why we created Cowgirls vs. Cancer, a one-of-a-kind scholarship retreat and 501(c)3 designed to provide solace, rejuvenation, and healing for women battling breast cancer. Thanks to our amazing partners, we've been able to give scholarships to 60+ yoginis, who are all-too-familiar with the physical, emotional, and financial toll of breast cancer, so they can experience holistic healing through yoga and horses in the wilds of Montana.

  • Yoga and horses can fix anything. They're kind of like duct tape and string.

    Tanya, Cowgirls vs. Cancer

  • When I thought my body was failing me and my muscles were disappearing before my eyes, I would do yoga. Yoga let me know that chemo was not taking everything from me. I was still me.

    Debbie, Cowgirls vs. Cancer

  • Atop a horse, I am running again. I am a healthy 34 year old with cancer left behind, moving through the world with strength, agility and beauty. My yoga mat has become my "cancer-free zone,” my little spot in the universe where cancer can not enter but where love, calm and peace are always found.

    Jennie, Cowgirls vs. Cancer

  • Back on the chemotherapy horse for life-saving aggressive treatment that would test even the strongest constitution, this yoga-loving cowgirl rode that “bucking-cancer-bronco” with skill, her body and soul strong and flexible from her time on the mat. Karen’s “Yeehaw” is the fearless, yet graceful way in which she lives her life, despite the cancer that attempts to throw her each and every day.

    Karen, Cowgirls vs. Cancer

  • Cancer is hard both physically and emotionally, and a Cowgirl Yoga Retreat is the perfect combination for all aspects of healing. Survivors need a healthy dose of Yeehaw & Namaste, to be reminded of the thrills of and gratitude for the life for which we have battled so hard.

    Kristen, Cowgirls vs. Cancer

  • Both yoga and horses offer us the clarity of the present moment and the simple truth of what's real, grounding in a world that has repeatedly knocked me off my feet. “Yeehaw and Namaste” encompass the whole spectrum of what I seek every day - gratitude for being alive, enthusiasm for the day ahead, honoring the humanity of those around me, and peace.

    Sarah, Cowgirls vs. Cancer

  • The C vs C crew gave us an opportunity to heal and relax...to allow ourselves time to just breathe in the joy of being alive. When I left Montana, I brought home a great big "saddlebag" full of incredible gifts: love and self-acceptance, renewed appreciation for the beauty of nature, the healing power of yoga, horses, and wonderful healthy food.

Let's Stomp Out Breast Cancer

Alongside our partner Old Gringo, we love sending cowgirl boots to women currently in treatment for breast cancer. Help us give away these boots by making a donation, or nominate yourself or another cancer kickin’ cowgirl to receive a pair of boots!

Planning Your Trip

Travel is not included with Cowgirls vs. Cancer scholarships, so you’ll need to book your own flight and secure a rental car (or ask us to be connected with other attendees who are driving). The retreat begins at 5 PM on Thursday and wraps up around noon on Sunday.

Add-On Trail Ride

For those cowgirls whose long weekend wasn’t quite long enough, consider adding on a trail ride the Monday following your retreat. Join us for a full-day trek through the Bridger Mountains (or one of our other nearby ranges) and enjoy a gourmet picnic lunch on the trail. We work up to this ride all weekend, but let us know if you have any concerns about your skills prior to signing up.

Note: You’re responsible for your own lodging Sunday evening, but we’ll provide a list of suggestions in your orientation materials.

Give While You Shop

Supporting Cowgirls vs. Cancer is easier than ever when you shop with Amazon Smile. AmazonSmile is a simple and automatic way for you to support your favorite charitable organization every time you shop, at no cost to you. When you shop at smile.amazon.com, Amazon will donate a portion of the purchase price to Cowgirls vs. Cancer!

Help Fund the Program

Cowgirls vs. Cancer is a 501(c)3 organization, and we rely on your generous donations to fund this annual scholarship retreat. If you, a family member, or a friend have been touched by breast cancer, please consider donating. Together, we can stomp out breast cancer!
