Cancer Kickin' Boots

Helping Cowgirls Stomp Out Breast Cancer

Giving Breast Cancer the Boot!

Through our 501(c)3, Cowgirls vs. Cancer, Big Sky Yoga Retreats provides retreat scholarships to inspiring yoginis who have experienced the physical, emotional, and financial hardships of breast cancer.

To help even more women, we also send pairs of “Cancer Kickin’ Cowgirl Boots” to women currently in treatment for breast cancer. One of our previous scholarship recipients wore her cowgirl boots throughout her treatment as a testament to her persistent optimism and to connect with friends and family during the process. Along with our partner, Ariat, you can help us send more boots to women in treatment.

Jacci's Story

“My first breast cancer diagnosis was in 2006. I was 35 years old. My first trip to Montana was in June 2013.  My second breast cancer diagnosis was September 2013….just 3 months after being a guest at Cowgirls vs. Cancer with Big Sky Yoga Retreats. Perfect timing.

After a devastating diagnosis, among the first groups I reached out to for support was my new “Montana family.” In fact, those ladies were there for me in those first few days as it sunk in that I would fight again. I shared my fears, my fight, my sobbing in the shower. Unfortunately, they could relate.

A few days after hearing the news, I received a message from Margaret simply saying, “How about a pair of cancer kickin’ boots to get this fight started?” I could not believe it! My message back was, “So, really?” First time I have smiled in days! Those boots were exactly what I needed!
