See Life Through a New Lens

Cowgirl Yogatography is a 3-night boutique women’s retreat dedicated to creativity, renewal, and the beauty of horses. Spend your days learning the fundamentals of photography through hands-on practice, using the mind-body awareness from yoga to unlock your creativity, and learning to capture the beauty of our equine subjects and natural surroundings.

Specifically designed as a boutique retreat (limit: 4 women), this small group getaway is perfect for women who relish deep conversations, one-on-one instruction, and a magical frame through which to see the world anew. Enjoy full-run of BSYR founder Margaret’s private family ranch in Bozeman, Montana with its Frank Lloyd Wright-esque luxury guest house, gourmet meals prepared by our private chef, up-close-and-personal time with the Vap herd, and all the down dogs, workshops, and horse nuzzles you can handle.

As each day comes to a close, settle in for an evening of photography slide shows, a glass (or two) of wine, great conversation, and a breathtaking canopy of stars overhead.

On This Boutique Retreat, You'll Enjoy:

Luxury Lodging

Spend three nights in the rustic-chic accommodations at the Vap Family Ranch.

Small Group Setting

This boutique retreat is limited to six guests, which makes it the perfect fit for women who love making deep connections, having authentic conversations, and perfecting their photography skills in an intimate and relaxed environment.

Daily Yoga Classes

Tap into your creative potential through movement by building body and mind self-awareness and openness.

Gourmet Meals & Wines

Enjoy Western gourmet meals prepared by our private chef, and satisfy your cowgirl cravings and maintain your energy. Plus, enjoy fine wines from Yellowstone Cellars & Winery and local beers like Moose Drool (trust us!). Our last evening will be a unique dining experience/photo opp - a farm-to-table dinner at our neighbor Camp Arrow Creek.

Daily Photography Workshops

Expand your camera skills and creative eye through daily classes, demonstrations, and engaging photo assignments with your yogatography guru Larry Stanley of Larry Stanley Photography. We’ll study fundamentals, lighting, vision, confidence, and much more.

Meditation & Journaling

Set your intentions through a series of meditation and journaling exercises specifically designed for our yogatographers.

Equine Insights

Learn about the horse-human connection, grooming, safety, and experience the magic of "join up" in the round pen. (Note: Riding is not part of this retreat.) We'll do horse massage too!

Hands-on Horse Time

Connect with and be inspired by your onsite equine photo subjects through quality time exploring the horse-human connection.

  • I went to learn about myself.
I went to explore my art.
I went to meet people as passionate about horses & photography as I am.
    I found all three.

If you want the "full package" of wonderful yoga, inspiring photography with talented instructors, a beautiful venue, and absolutely spectacular food, then you have to try the Yogatography retreat. You will learn so much about your camera, the horses, and yourself. It will be a vacation that stays with you forever.

  • I came away from this weekend in a state of catharsis. The yoga opened my heart, the meditation opened my mind, the horses fostered new ways of communicating, and the photography provided a creative outlet that captured the entire integrated experience in some amazing images, reconciling pieces of me that I did not even know were broken. And for that I am forever grateful.
