Namaste and Cheers!

Wine and yoga lovers will find themselves in heaven during this 6-night retreat filled with stretching and swirling in the heart of Tuscany, Italy.

Experience Italy the way it was meant to be enjoyed — with an emphasis on Agriturismo and elegant accommodations at Villa Il Leccio, our private retreat oasis located in Florentine Chianti and only 15 km from Florence.

Nestled amidst swaying oak trees, the villa features a classical Italian garden with roses and lavender, green lemon trees and elegant hedges, seasonal vegetables, fruits, and fragrant herbs, and picture-perfect olive groves. The surrounding vineyards and protected nature areas are home to pheasants, squirrels, deer, and owls that will hoot hoot you to sleep at night.

Not only will you partake of Italy’s finest wines, you’ll get to explore the villa’s Old Medieval Tower House (built in 1200) and learn how to cook authentic Tuscan cuisine under the watchful eye of Italian nonnas and food growers.

On this retreat, you'll enjoy:

Historical Luxe Lodging

Spend six nights in lavish quarters at Villa Il Leccio, our private retreat oasis in the heart of Tuscany.

Daily Yoga Classes

Build body and mind self-awareness and openness through daily vinyasa in the vineyards and scenic patios (weather permitting). Our indoor villa "studio" will provide the unique experience of practicing in a place infused with centuries of energy. Yoga in an Italian villa? Si, per favore.

Authentic Agriturismo

Agriturismo, a combination of the Italian words for "agriculture" and "tourism," is a style of vacationing in scenic rural farm areas. Italians are particularly proud of their agricultural traditions, especially cheese, wine and olive making, and we'll teach you about the history and production of these delights, while tasting everything local, organic and purely Italian. It's a foodie and nature lover's heaven!

Cooking Classes

Learn the fine art of cooking Italian staples, including handcrafted pizza and pasta. We'll also make our own gnocchi for lunch during our hands-on tour and workshop at Podere Paugnano.

Vineyard Tour & Tastings

Tour Ricasoli/Castello Brolio Estate's winemaking facilities and vineyards and learn about the wine process firsthand from master winemakers. We'll also tour Castello Brolio, which dates back to the 12th century, followed by a sumptuous tasting (of course!). Then we'll sip and savor a winemaker's dinner at Tenuta Torciano one evening.

Mindfulness Exercises

Learn how to be more mindful and appreciative through meditation, intention-setting & journaling. We'll kick off our week with a led discussion on eating and drinking mindfully--the perfect way to connect our yoga practice to Italian agriturismo.

Olive Picking & Pressing

Learn the ins and outs of olives during our hands-on picking and pressing experience (harvest dependent). We'll enjoy a private tour of Pruneti, while learning about the olive oil making process. Lunch with tastings and wine/food/olive oil pairings to follow.

(Optional) Horseback Riding

See the beauty of Tuscany's vineyards by horseback as a cowgirl yogini abroad (at additional cost). The medieval town of San Gimignano is often in view from the saddle on our optional add-on ride with Il Vecchio Maneggio. Highly recommended!

  • What was my favorite part of the Yoga and Vineyard Tuscany retreat? All of the sights, smells, tastes, experiences, and people were so lovely, it’s practically impossible to choose! Ensconced in the rolling Tuscan countryside, I truly felt a world away from the stresses of every day life. The yoga practice, horse back riding, cooking and tasting experiences were just what I needed to relax and reenergize. If you are at all considering this trip, I say, ‘Andiamo!’

  • Consider yourself forewarned: these trips are addictive; the Yoga and Vineyard Tuscany retreat was my 5th adventure with Big Sky Yoga Retreats! Amidst the olive oil slurping, Chianti tasting, pasta making, horseback riding, villa living, gelato licking, castle touring, downward dogging, you will also encounter some fabulously interesting women. Whether traveling with a friend or flying solo – all are immediately made to feel welcome. So get ready to come home with leather bags, a renewed taste for red wine, and some new best friends - who if you are as lucky as me - you may run into on your next adventure.

  • Margaret's retreats are addicting! If you're interested in exploring the Tuscan countryside with incredible women, eating fresh authentic foods with locals, tasting fine Italian wines, sampling freshly pressed olive oils, optional horse back riding, AND yoga, then you must attend Yoga & Vineyard in Tuscany! By the way, I'm now planning my fourth Big Sky Yoga Retreat!

  • I can’t pick a favorite thing about this retreat simply because all of it was so wonderful. Starting your day with meditation, yoga and a nutritious breakfast with some fabulous women just puts you in a positive frame of mind, and that positivity lasts the whole day. I laughed, I learned and I got stronger during a fantastic week in Tuscany. The experiences and memories that were made during this retreat will always be special to me. I’m so glad I made this investment in myself. Thanks Margaret for being so great at your job!

  • For years, I'd wished I could speak Italian - a language I find more beautiful than roses - but I could never make the practical justification for studying it...What was I going to do with Italian? It would be more practical to learn how to play the accordion. But why must everything always have a practical application? Is this lifetime supposed to be only about duty?
