Get the balance right

My goodness. I’ve been a bad blogger. I’ve been London tour guide for the last few weeks for both husband’s and my parents, 5 year old is out of school for the entire month of April, and we are about to kick off a few weeks of travel. For someone who thrives on good, solid routine, even fun “disruptive” events can be a bit ungrounding. But I was thinking how it all comes back to one word: balance. We’ve put in a few months of routine here, with 5 year old in school and me in yoga every weekday. Then we shifted into a new gear: we’ve given both sets of grandparents whirlwind tours, welcomed a lovely spring (the likes of which we really don’t see much of back in Montana), and are leaving for a big adventure in Morocco tomorrow. By the end of this month, we’ll have been places I could only dream of before. And come the beginning of May, it’ll be back to the routine for a bit before we return to the States. It’s actually quite balanced.

Too much routine can get boring; too much excitement can be draining. I may not be getting in 1.5 hours of yoga every day right now, but I am practicing on a smaller scale and in other ways. One isn’t necessarily better than the other. It’s about finding ways to balance, no matter what’s going on in your life. For me, yoga is the continuous thread.
