A Yoga Retreat That Fills Your Cup

Groovier than Napa and Sonoma, and less crowded. Oenophile yoginis unite for this 3-night retreat at one of the last outposts of renegade wine making, in one of the coolest wine growing regions – the North Coast of California’s wine country. Our partner-in-wine for this retreat is wine expert and food educator Dory Kwan.

Stay at The Madrones & its new sister property the Brambles, an award-winning luxurious Mediterranean sanctuary influenced by Italian agriturismo. Its beautifully-appointed private guest rooms (and wine tasting rooms!) are the extension of home and perfect for an intimate stay in rural wine country.

Spend your days deepening your yoga practice among the views and vines, pampering yourself with spa facials and massages, replenishing your mind and spirit, and nourishing your body with gourmet fare—while following one of Michael Pollan’s Food Rules: “Have a glass of wine with dinner.”

We can’t argue, especially when it’s a glass of the best pinot noir in the country.

On this retreat, you'll enjoy:

Luxury Lodging

Spend three nights in lavish private quarters at The Madrones (and their sister quarters The Brambles), with its national award-winning architecture.

Daily Yoga Classes

Build body and mind self-awareness and openness through daily vinyasa - in the vineyards and rose gardens when weather permits.

Holistic Spa Treatments

Relax and rejuvenate with your choice of a facial or massage at our onsite spa. (Add more spa services at additional cost.)

Gourmet Food & Spectacular Wines

Enjoy gourmet fare, from farm-to-table casual at Pennyroyal Farms to top-notch eateries like the Bewildered Pig. We’ll taste locally produced ciders, beers, cheeses and other local products.

The Alchemy of Taste

Discover your personal palate and how to use it in The Alchemy of Taste workshop. Isolate profile elements, develop a taste memory library and learn how to pair food and wine perfectly every time.

Wine Workshops

Visits to wineries and vineyards with guided tastings.

Wood-fired pizza 101

Learn the art of cooking pizza – and, of course, how to perfectly pair it with wine.

Mendocino Mindfulness Exercises

Learn how to be more mindful and appreciative through meditation, intention-setting & journaling.

Morning Meditation

Wander in silent meditation through the Old Growth Redwood Groves.

  • This was my third Big Sky Yoga Retreat, so I had high expectations. Based on the itinerary and venue photos, alone, I knew that it was going to be an incredible weekend. It turned out to be more than I even expected—the best retreat yet!

    Amanda, Colorado

  • Going on any yoga retreat is a true gift. But going on a yoga retreat with the incomparable Margaret Burns Vapp, practicing outside in the beautiful vineyards, having thoughtful conversations about mindfulness, wine, and food — well, that is just a little piece of heaven on earth.

    Mary, Nebraska

  • Every time that I attend one of Margaret's retreats, I meet amazing women and leave with more friends.

    Amanda, Colorado

  • Exceeded my expectations in every way — simply wonderful. I will be back!

    Mary, Nebraska

  • From the incredible goody bags to the beautiful dinner table decorations, the yoga practices to our accommodations at The Madrones, the wine tastings to the food, every detail was perfect. It was very apparent how much love went into planning the weekend.

The Madrones

The Madrones’ private Estate Guest Quarters, Garden Quarters, and newest addition – The Brambles – are designed to feel like an extension of home. Influenced by the Italian Agriturismo concept of staying on a working farm or winery, the quarters are perfect for an intimate stay in rural wine country.
