Healing with horses & yoga 2013

Two weekends in a row of Cowgirl Yoga! Including our 2013 Cowgirls vs. Cancer retreat. A whirlwind of yoga, horses, fabulous food, Montana moments, and amazing women. Pinch self: it always makes me smile to marvel at how I ended up doing this. I’ve mused extensively on how yoga has changed my life – but the chance to be able to make a positive difference in the cancer arena is the icing on the cake in terms of life changing. It’s truly taken on a life of its own, the way we have all come together to create Cowgirls vs. Cancer. And there are many people that have become part of the mix that just keeps getting better and better. To be able to see all that positive energy and effort unleashed in one weekend is beyond rewarding.

I’ve been procrastinating on writing this post, perhaps because there are a few others who have done it first and captured it with such eloquence:

My intention with Cowgirls vs. Cancer was to do something besides just helplessly hear all the stories of how this terrible disease has worked its way into so many lives. I’m not a dr., but I wondered…how could I help heal? Yoga heals. Horses heal. One person who becomes many heals. It adds up. We get to witness that equation unfold here, and it is awe inspiring. It’s proof that healing and health go way beyond the medical. (On that note, I adore this MindBodyGreen article written by an MD, 10 Things I Wish Every American Knew About Health. All good, but #s 5 and 7 particularly resonate.)

Cowgirl hats off to this year’s group of cancer kickin’ cowgirl yoginis. You tell me we have changed your life…but you have no idea how much you have changed mine. I am so grateful for your powerful infusion of inspiration. Yesterday, I got a much needed haircut. Spontaneously, I decided to get a bright pink streak in honor of this year’s C vs C ladies and how much they inspired me. Yeehaw & Namaste.
