After doing our summer retreats down in Bozeman, it is lovely to return to the Big EZ Lodge in Big Sky for our first fall yoga and hiking retreat this weekend. The Eat Pray Love ladies (the book is our retreat theme) are all arriving and there is the anticipatory buzz in the air…what will the weekend bring? As retreat leader I may know the plan, but it’s always interesting to see what dynamics unfold with each group. Every retreat is unique since every combination of people is also unique. I love watching it all unfold, and taking part in that as well. Have I mentioned that I adore my job?
Here’s my fave quote from Eat Pray Love by Elizabeth Gilbert, which inspired me to offer this retreat weekend:
Yoga is the effort to experience one’s divinity personally and then to hold on to that experience forever. Yoga is about self-mastery and the dedicated effort to haul your attention away from your endless brooding over the past and your nonstop worrying about the future so that you can seek, instead, a place of eternal presence from which you may regard yourself and your surroundings with poise. Only from that point of even-mindedness will the true nature of the world (and yourself) be revealed to you.
Great food for yoga thought, yes?
