Last night, while I was laying with Morgane as she was falling asleep, she looked at me and said, “mom, Lokah Samastah Sukhino Bhavantu”, and I about cried. It’s a Sanskrit blessing, one of my favorites, that I often sing softly to her along with OM shanti at bedtime. It means, may all beings everywhere be happy and free. Pure, simple, to the point, and so beautiful. The fact that she has taken it in brings me such joy.
Today while I was doing my practice, my little boy Boston Terrier Rocco wouldn’t leave me alone. He often loves to be near me when I am doing yoga, but today he wanted to be closer: under me in down dog, on top of me if I was on the floor, sitting with his butt next to my head in headstand. I didn’t shoo him away because I kept thinking, Lokah Samastah Sukhino Bhavantu, and today this little one’s happiness and freedom were somehow connected to my yoga practice. So be it. Wish I could let go like that more often. A good lesson, brought to you today by Rocco the Boston Terrier. Namaste, my sweet good boy.
