Think husband and I will make the hiking date a regular thing. This morning’s Lava Lake hike and picnic were just what we needed. Lava Lake is a frequent retreat hike; it’s the only non-glacially formed lake in the Lee Metcalf Wilderness (it was formed by a landslide damming a creek). The water level is really high right now after all the run-off, and you can sit and watch the rainbow trout, which is what we did while we ate our lunch. I haven’t seen husband that animated in awhile, as the result of all the fish excitement. They were pretty mesmerizing.
